Hi. During my recent stay at Ubud Jannata Resort & Spa in Bali, I had a Balinese massage and flower bath at Champaka Spa. For your information, Champaka is one of the names of a tropical flower, which I thought was a good fit for the spa. I found the massage and flower bath here quite satisfying and special, so I’ll tell you more about it : )
About Champaka Spa at Jannata Resort
Jannata Resort & Spa is a small private luxury resort, close to Ubud city and we were really happy with our pool villa with a great view of the jungle. The resort is well landscaped and it was so relaxing to walk back and forth : )
The Champaka Spa is right next door, where you can do yoga and other activities. The place is open everywhere and you can feel the Ubud jungle so well, so doing yoga in a place like this will give you good energy.
Further down the road is Champaka Spa, which smelled so nice and cozy when we walked in and was greeted by friendly staff. We made an appointment in advance and made sure we got in on time, but because of the nature of the spa, it’s best to make a reservation before you go.
First, we were shown to our seats and given a welcome tea, which was delicious. Then we were given a short questionnaire to fill out about our massage, including areas we’d like to focus on, areas we’d like to avoid, and any medical concerns.
Next, you get to choose your favorite oils before your massage, which you do by testing each one on the back of your hand. I chose champaka, which is their signature scent, because it’s their signature scent and I haven’t smelled it anywhere else, and the floral scent doesn’t make my head hurt. I use a lot of oils in my massages, and being able to choose my favorite scent makes it so much more relaxing on the olfactory level. Personally, I don’t think it’s a big deal for a spa to let you choose your own scent, but it’s probably my favorite service : )
Champaka Spa Massage and Flower Bath Review
We booked a 60-minute Balinese Massage and a 30-minute flower bath for two. The spa room is different from other spas in town because it has a large window in the front, which lets in a good amount of natural light, making the atmosphere cozy and nice, and you can really feel the lush green feel of Ubud, Bali.
If you only have a foot massage, you can have it in an outdoor area with a view of the jungle, like this one. It’s surrounded by forest, so it’s very relaxing to just sit still and enjoy the view.
This is the highlight of the day, the flower bath. It’s so colorful, right? Before the massage, the spa room was already set up with flowers. How many flowers are there? I’ve never had a flower bath before, so I was so excited and happy.
It’s a good idea to remove any accessories you’re wearing before your massage, and there are showers if you want to freshen up. After putting on the disposable underwear and robe provided, you knock on the door to signal the staff member waiting outside and the massage begins.
It starts with a simple foot massage. I love the citrusy scents in Bali, so it was nice to smell the lime, lemon, etc. used to wash my feet for the foot massage, and the sea salt used to scrub them thoroughly.
When you get a massage, you start on your stomach, so when you open your eyes, you can see the floor. In high-end spas, they arrange the floor so that you can see live flowers, and I personally found this to be one of the small healing and happy points of the massage. Every spa is different, but this one had white roses on the floor. So pretty, right?
The Balinese massage lasted 60 minutes, starting with the bell, and I was very satisfied with the intensity of the massage and how thorough and cool it was.
After the massage is over and you’re feeling refreshed, they guide you to do a flower bath, which is really pretty, isn’t it? Ubud’s lush green jungle meets colorful flowers and it’s even prettier in person, but my camera can’t capture it 100% lol.
You have 30 minutes for the flower bath. I was hesitant to get in because I didn’t want to mess up the beautiful flowers, but after looking at them for a while and taking pictures, I got into the bath. The smell of the flowers and green herbs was intoxicating and relaxing.
Warm ginger tea and cookies were prepared for me, and I enjoyed them while chatting with Dorandoran. It was so relaxing and nice to soak in the warm water after the massage while smelling the herbs + flowers. I enjoyed the 30 minutes while enjoying the lush green view of Ubud.

Overall Review
Today I shared my review of the Balinese massage and flower bath I had at Champaka Spa at Jannata Resort in Ubud, Bali, and it was one of my favorite experiences of my trip, one that I’ll remember long after I get back. You can have a romantic time soaking in tons of flowers, and the pictures come out beautifully, so if you come to Bali for honeymoon or couple’s trip, I think you should definitely experience it : )
