Maya Sanur Resort Bali Review
Bali truly earns its nickname as a “resort paradise,” offering travelers an endless selection of unique accommodations. Among the options, Maya Resorts stands out in my memory, with beautiful properties in both Sanur and Ubud. I’d heard so many glowing reviews about Maya Sanur Resort—especially on Google Maps—that I had high hopes before arriving. I’ve previously written about the Tree Bar restaurant here, but this time, I want to share my experience of actually staying at the resort, with a special focus on their exceptional spa.
First Impressions: Welcome to Maya Sanur Resort
I arrived at Maya Sanur Resort by Grab, and the very first thing that struck me was the harmony between the red-brick buildings and the lush greenery wrapping around them. The design seamlessly blends traditional Balinese style with modern comfort, creating a welcoming atmosphere that feels both luxurious and relaxing.
With a little time to spare before my spa treatment, I wandered around the grounds. The resort was much bigger than I expected, with beautifully landscaped gardens that made even a casual stroll feel like a moment of calm. The long, inviting pool and rooms with direct pool access perfectly capture that relaxing resort energy. If you follow the main path, you’ll eventually reach Sanur Beach and the Tree Bar restaurant, which has amazing ocean views. Maya Sanur Resort is truly where natural beauty meets thoughtful amenities.
Inside the elevator, there’s a floor guide that makes it easy to get your bearings. The main floor features direct access to the beach, the beachside pool, spa, Tree Bar, yoga studio, and a gym—all conveniently grouped together. I was especially curious about a spot called “Green Roof 360” on the fifth floor, so we headed up there first.
As the name suggests, “Green Roof 360” is a small rooftop park, full of grass and vibrant plants. Despite the midday sun, the sweeping green views combined with glimpses of the ocean created an instantly soothing scene. It’s another peaceful hideaway that Maya Sanur Resort offers its guests.
Inside the Spa: A Guide to Maya Sanur’s Wellness Facilities
Following the winding paths through the gardens, I soon found myself at the spa. Beyond the expected massage treatments, the spa at Maya Sanur also includes a yoga studio and gym, so you can keep up your wellness routine while traveling. This thoughtful setup really shows how much the resort cares about offering a wide range of activities for all types of guests.
Tucked away in the spa is a cozy little shop. You’ll find all the premium products used during treatments, plus some unique Balinese souvenirs—great for browsing before or after your session and a fun way to bring a piece of Bali home.
I arrived at the spa reception right on time and checked in for my “Holiday Detox” program. This signature package is a true indulgence—150 minutes in total. It begins with a relaxing 5-minute foot massage, followed by a 75-minute full-body treatment, a 40-minute body scrub, and finishes with a 30-minute facial. If you’re looking for complete pampering from head to toe, this is the package to try.
After confirming my booking, I was greeted with a chilled welcome drink and handed a questionnaire about my preferences, allergies, and areas that needed extra attention. Before the massage, I was invited to choose from four different aroma oils—the one I liked best would be used in my treatment. This personal touch really set the tone for the rest of my spa experience at Maya Sanur.
My Personal Spa Experience at Maya Sanur Resort
The treatment was held in a private room on the second floor. Maya’s spa features six double suites, so it’s always quiet and intimate—no bumping into other guests or feeling rushed. My room was completely self-contained, with everything I could need, which made it easy to relax and enjoy every moment. It’s obvious how much Maya Sanur values guest comfort and privacy.
Each suite features two massage beds—perfect for couples or friends traveling together. There’s a large bathroom, changing area, a private shower, and even a separate toilet. Everything was well-stocked with premium amenities, so you really don’t need to bring anything with you. This level of detail shows just how much thought has gone into every guest’s experience.
Spa Reviews
The “Holiday Detox” began with a gentle foot massage, signaling the start of 150 minutes of pure relaxation. Lying face down, I noticed that fresh flowers were placed under the headrest, releasing a delicate fragrance. Each treatment room features its own flower arrangement—plumeria, roses, marigolds—which made the experience feel extra special and soothing. It’s little touches like this that really set Maya Sanur’s spa apart.
Although the treatment lasted two and a half hours, I was never bored or restless—the time simply melted away. My therapist’s hands were skilled and gentle, and after the full-body massage and scrub, my skin felt unbelievably soft and refreshed. All my tension disappeared. I completely understood why the program is called “Holiday Detox.”
After the session, I changed and went down to the lounge on the first floor, where staff had prepared light snacks and a cool drink—another thoughtful gesture that made me feel cared for right up until the end of my visit.
Final Thoughts
My stay at Maya Sanur Resort, especially the “Holiday Detox” spa program, was unforgettable. The private, well-designed program helped me completely unwind—two and a half hours truly flew by. If you ever visit Maya Sanur, I can’t recommend their spa enough. And while you’re here, don’t miss a delicious meal at the Tree Bar restaurant overlooking Sanur Beach.
