Grand Hyatt Bali Review: A Look Inside the Ocean View Suite and All-Inclusive Experience

Grand Hyatt Bali: A Comprehensive Resort Review

Nusa Dua stands out as Bali’s premier destination for luxurious, sprawling resorts, known for its pristine beaches and serene atmosphere. After falling for the area’s charm on a previous visit to Bali, I knew a return trip was inevitable. This time, I chose the Grand Hyatt Bali, where I settled in for a complete resort holiday with their all-inclusive package. The property’s immense scale and the consistent service of a global hotel brand made for a memorable stay.

Checking In at Grand Hyatt Bali

One of the first things you’ll notice upon entering Nusa Dua is the heightened sense of security, with police checkpoints monitoring access to the area. This, combined with the immaculately clean and well-maintained streets, sets it apart from many other regions in Bali. The Grand Hyatt Bali enjoys an ideal location within this exclusive enclave. Positioned near the entrance, it offers excellent accessibility by car. As a bonus, the Bali Collection, a large open-air shopping center, is just across the street, making it easy to pop over for shopping or a change of scenery.

We arrived by a Grab taxi and were met with a warm welcome from the staff right at the curb. They took care of our luggage immediately, allowing us to head inside unencumbered. As we walked toward the lobby, we were greeted by the sight of two traditional Balinese dancers, who graciously paused to take photos with guests.

The resort’s expansive lobby has several check-in areas. A staff member led us to a comfortable lounge where we could handle the formalities while seated. As we waited, we were treated to welcome drinks, light snacks, and chilled towels, a very welcome gesture after our journey.

We had booked the F&B All-Inclusive package, and at check-in, we were given red wristbands. These handy bands signal your package to the staff, making dining and ordering drinks around the resort seamless. The plan covers meals and an unlimited selection of beverages, including beer, wine, and cocktails. If your goal is to fully unwind and enjoy everything the resort has to offer without ever having to pull out your wallet, I would strongly suggest this package. I’ll cover the all-inclusive dining experience in more detail in a future post.

Exploring the Grand Hyatt Bali Grounds

The grounds of the Grand Hyatt Bali are vast and beautifully maintained. Wandering through the property feels like exploring a tropical park, with various buildings connected by garden paths, tranquil ponds, and ocean vistas. The diverse collection of trees and flowers makes just walking around a delightful experience. We visited in early October and were treated to perfect weather, with sunny, dry days and comfortable humidity levels.

Grand Hyatt Bali: Suite with Ocean View

We stayed in a Suite with Ocean View, and the first thing that struck us upon entering was its generous size. The layout was thoughtfully designed with distinct zones, making the space both comfortable and highly functional. It featured a large balcony overlooking the ocean, a separate living room, a bedroom, a main bathroom, and a walk-in dressing room. While it was more than enough space for the two of us, the suite could comfortably accommodate a family or larger group.

The suite came with several nice touches, including plenty of complimentary bottled water, a welcome plate of cookies and fruit, and a vase of fresh flowers on the desk that brightened the room. The minibar was stocked with drinks and snacks, which were available for an additional charge.

The Balcony

The balcony offered an expansive view out towards the ocean, with the resort’s green gardens and palm trees framing the scenery. It was the perfect spot to soak in the tropical vacation atmosphere. Furnished with a table and chairs, it became our go-to place for enjoying a cold drink in the afternoon.

The Bedroom

The bedroom was clean and uncluttered, providing a restful environment for sleep. It had a lovely view of the gardens and was conveniently connected to the main bathroom. Each evening, the staff provided turndown service, a small luxury that made the stay feel even more relaxing.

The Bathroom

Adjacent to the bathroom was a dedicated dressing area with ample closet space and room to store luggage.

Consistent with the rest of the suite, the bathroom was exceptionally large. It featured a separate glass-enclosed shower, a deep soaking tub, and a long counter with dual sinks, which is always a welcome convenience. The hotel provided a comprehensive set of amenities, including water bottles, mouthwash, toothbrushes, and razors, so you hardly need to pack your own. The toiletries were from the French fashion house BALMAIN, which added a touch of luxury.

The Beach and Pools at Grand Hyatt Bali

The resort provides direct access to a long, sandy stretch of Nusa Dua Beach. The water here is calm and the beach is clean, making it ideal for a swim, a leisurely walk, or just relaxing on a sun lounger. The main pools are situated right behind the beach, so you can easily hop between the freshwater pools and the saltwater ocean.

The pool complex itself is huge and was always lively with guests enjoying themselves. We spent a lot of time here, trying out the different areas and activities, including the waterslide. The poolside bar is perfectly positioned for ordering drinks and snacks without having to leave the fun. This is where the all-inclusive package really shines, as you can order as you please without a second thought.

Grand Hyatt Bali Club Lounge

Guests staying in Club-level rooms or suites gain access to the Grand Club Lounge. Because our all-inclusive package already covered all our meals and drinks at the main restaurants, we only stopped by the lounge once. We were impressed with what we saw; the selection of food and beverages was quite substantial. Club lounges are not a standard feature at many Bali resorts, so this is a significant perk for eligible Hyatt members or guests who book a club room.

Pasar Senggol: A Balinese Night Market Experience

While I’ll dedicate a full post to the resort’s dining later, I have to mention the Pasar Senggol dinner. This experience was a definite highlight of our stay. If you’re planning a trip to the Grand Hyatt Bali, I strongly suggest you arrange your visit to be there on a Friday night to attend this special event.

The event recreates the atmosphere of a traditional night market. You can feast on a buffet of authentic Indonesian dishes and fresh seafood while enjoying a captivating series of Balinese cultural performances. The open-air setting is enchanting. Throughout the evening, five distinct performances take the stage. Having seen many cultural shows, I found the quality and variety here to be exceptional. The night also includes interactive moments with the audience, and it concludes with a photo opportunity with the performers, which is a great way to remember the evening.

We also had the pleasure of dining at Nampu, Salsa Verde, and Watercourt. At Nampu, we enjoyed Teppanyaki in a luxurious Japanese setting, while Salsa Verde delighted us with delicious Italian dishes like pizza and pasta. We also savored authentic Indonesian cuisine and a fantastic breakfast buffet at Watercourt

Shopping at Bali Collection

Bali Collection is a large, open-air shopping mall located in Nusa Dua. It’s an easy five-minute walk from the hotel, though a scheduled shuttle bus is also available for your convenience. The mall offers a good mix of stores, including retailers like Deus ex Machina, a supermarket, souvenir shops, various restaurants, and massage spas. It’s a nice option for an afternoon or evening excursion.
