Maya Ubud Spa Review: An Unforgettable Balinese Massage & Flower Bath Experience

Ultimate Relaxation: My Maya Ubud Spa Journey

During my recent 4-night trip to Ubud, Bali, I had a variety of wonderful experiences. One of the most memorable was undoubtedly the massage and flower bath at the Maya Ubud Resort Spa. While the Maya Ubud resort itself is exceptionally well-maintained, its spa atmosphere and programs were truly outstanding. If you’re planning a trip to Ubud, I highly recommend visiting for a romantic and rejuvenating time.

Maya Ubud Resort and Tree Bar Restaurant

Upon arriving at Maya Ubud Resort, I was immediately impressed by its vast grounds. The resort is set on an expansive piece of land, and true to its Ubud location, it beautifully incorporates nature and the jungle into its lush green landscaping and stunning views.

We had booked a spa appointment and visited the resort accordingly. With some time to spare before our spa session, we first stopped by the Tree Bar restaurant. I had fond memories of a great experience at the Tree Bar in Maya Sanur Resort, and the staff here were just as friendly.

Since we had already eaten lunch, we opted for a light coffee and mango smoothie to cool down. While it might seem pricey by Bali standards, considering it’s a 5-star hotel, the prices were comparable to or slightly cheaper than in Korea, so we could order without feeling burdened. They also served spicy peanuts as a snack, which were so delicious that I ended up buying a similar product at a local mart later!

Maya Ubud Resort Scenery and Pool

I enjoy exploring new resorts, so I took the time to look around beforehand. Maya Ubud Resort boasts truly well-maintained landscaping and facilities. While there are various pools within the resort, the one offering views of the Ubud river while swimming was particularly impressive. You can take the stairs down, but there’s also an elevator for convenient access to the pool and river area.

Taking the elevator down, you get an even stronger sense of being in a jungle. The Infinity Riverside Pool and The River Café are located here, with the Maya Ubud Spa we were about to visit situated nearby. Listening to the sounds of the lush forest and the flowing river was instantly healing.

Maya Ubud Resort Spa Introduction

In front of the spa, I found a pamphlet for the “Eat Pray Love” spa program we had booked. This program at Maya Ubud Spa runs for a total of 150 minutes and follows the sequence listed below. They were also offering a discount at the time, making it available at a reasonable price.

Eat Pray Love Spa Program Overview

  • 5-minute Aromatherapy Foot Bath
  • 60-minute Relaxing Balinese Massage
  • 60-minute Facial Massage
  • 25-minute Flower Bath

At the Maya Ubud Spa, you can browse various products, including oils and ingredients used in the massages. If you particularly liked a product used during your massage or want to buy a souvenir, you can purchase it here.

Detailed information about the types of spa programs, prices, and promotions at Maya Ubud Spa can be found on their official website. I recommend checking it beforehand and booking your date and time in advance.

Refreshing welcome drink at a spa reception

After confirming our reservation and before starting the spa treatment, we were welcomed with a refreshing welcome drink and a cool towel. We then filled out a questionnaire about our health conditions and preferences before being guided to the treatment room for our Maya Ubud Spa experience.

Maya Ubud Resort Spa Room Introduction

Guided by a staff member, we arrived at a very spacious spa room in the style of a private villa. The interior was beautifully decorated to match the Ubud atmosphere, and the front was open, allowing us to fully experience the lush forest and river. It felt luxurious yet incredibly comfortable – a signature of the Maya Ubud Spa.

Inside, there was a room for changing clothes and storing belongings, as well as a shower area. Both of these spaces had open ceilings, creating a unique feeling of being outdoors.

We started with a light foot bath, followed by a 60-minute Balinese massage and a 60-minute facial massage. The therapists at Maya Ubud Spa were friendly and skilled, making the experience highly satisfying. Receiving just one type of massage for two hours could become tedious or tiring, but having a variety made it much more enjoyable. Moreover, the open-plan spa room allowed us to listen to the chirping of birds, the sound of the wind, and the gentle flow of water, which was truly healing.

The highlight of the day! The flower bath was already prepared when we entered the spa room. Isn’t it beautiful? After the massage, it was finally time for the flower bath. It was filled with my favorite frangipani flowers, making it incredibly pretty and fragrant. The water temperature was perfectly warm and inviting.

To enhance the relaxation during the flower bath, they also provided warm ginger tea and cookies.

Because the spa room was open, it felt like bathing outdoors. The flowers in the tub were stunning, and I spent a fragrant time listening to the sounds of birds and the wind from outside, while soaking in the lushness of the jungle. It created such a romantic atmosphere that I would highly recommend this Maya Ubud Spa experience for honeymooners or couples. Definitely experience the delightful luxury of immersing yourself in countless flowers!
