Sanje Restaurant Bali Review
If you asked me which restaurant left the strongest impression during my Bali trip, I’d say Sanje Restaurant without hesitation. Located within the luxurious 5-star Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa, this beachfront restaurant offers a dreamy combination of exotic ambiance, spectacular ocean views, and unforgettable sunsets. It’s a place that truly sticks in your memory. If you’re looking for a spot in Seminyak where you can dine with a stunning sea view and watch the sky turn gold as the sun sets, this is it.
About The Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa
Seminyak is one of the most beloved areas in Bali, known for its chic shopping streets, trendy cafés, and breathtaking sunsets. We stayed in this area for two nights, and to be honest, it was my favorite part of the entire trip.
One of the main reasons was this resort—The Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa. While we didn’t stay overnight, we visited for a spa treatment and dinner, and that experience alone was enough to fall in love with the place.
This luxury resort sits right in front of Seminyak Beach, blending stunning views of the Indian Ocean with sophisticated Balinese aesthetics. One of its biggest advantages is its direct access to the beach—you can start your day with a refreshing morning stroll along the shore, and end it by watching a magical sunset over the horizon. If you’re looking for a place to stay in Bali that lets you enjoy the ocean up close, this resort is a top choice.
As you walk through the beautifully maintained grounds of the resort, you’ll soon find yourself facing Seminyak Beach. Right in front is an infinity pool with sweeping ocean views, and beside it sits Sanje Restaurant—the perfect place to relax, swim, and dine with a view.
Introducing Sanje Restaurant
Sanje Restaurant & Lounge is an open-air beachfront restaurant with unobstructed views of the Indian Ocean. The name ‘Sanje’ means “twilight” in the local language, and it perfectly captures the experience of watching the sky turn pink and gold at sunset. The view from here during golden hour is nothing short of magical.
The interior immediately caught my eye—light-toned wood, crisp white tablecloths, and mint-colored fabrics that harmonized beautifully with the natural surroundings. The overall ambiance felt fresh and relaxed, perfectly suited for a tropical getaway. Delicate tableware and stylish decor added to the charm.
We made a reservation in advance and were lucky to be seated right at the beachfront. These front-row tables offer the best views, so if you’re planning to visit during weekends or the high season, I definitely recommend booking ahead to secure a great spot.
Even the menu is charming in its mint color. Sanje Restaurant specializes in fresh and healthy Mediterranean cuisine—light, flavorful, and perfect for a beachside meal.
Dining at Sanje Restaurant
We started with drinks. While a tropical cocktail seemed fitting for the setting, I opted for a non-alcoholic mocktail since I wasn’t drinking that day. The presentation was lovely—the glass itself added to the beachy vibe and made it easy to get into the mood.
Before the main course, we ordered two appetizers. First came a Caesar salad, beautifully plated in a unique bowl with fresh flowers as garnish. When traveling, it’s not always easy to find crisp, fresh greens, so I try to include a salad whenever I can—and this one was both refreshing and visually pleasing.
Next was grilled octopus, and the presentation was just adorable. I didn’t know before coming to Bali that octopus dishes were such a specialty, but this one was flame-grilled to perfection. It had a subtle smokiness, was incredibly tender, and paired wonderfully with the sauce—an ideal appetizer.
As the sky deepened over the peaceful Seminyak shoreline, the atmosphere became even more romantic—too perfect not to enjoy a glass of wine. On the staff’s recommendation, I ordered a white wine, and it completed the moment beautifully.
Sunset Views from Sanje Restaurant
When I visited Bali, the sunsets peaked around 6:30 PM. We started dining around 6, and by the time we were waiting for the main dishes, the sky began turning a soft, romantic pink. Seminyak Beach is beautiful at any time of day, but it truly comes alive during sunset.
Main Dishes at Sanje
While we were still lost in the sunset, our main courses arrived. One was a chicken steak, and the other—a recommendation from the staff—was grilled lamb chops. The lamb was phenomenal. Garnished with edible flowers and green seasoning that evoked a Balinese forest, it was visually stunning and perfectly cooked. It was tender, flavorful, and hands down the best lamb I’ve had to date.
As we slowly finished our meal, the scenery remained beautiful, and the staff’s warm and attentive service made the experience even better. Unfortunately, we were too full to try dessert. But walking along Seminyak Beach afterward, listening to the waves, I felt completely at peace and content.
Final Thoughts
Today, I shared my review of Sanje Restaurant, located inside The Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa. If you’re looking to enjoy a delicious meal with an unforgettable view of Seminyak Beach, this is the perfect place. Whether you’re a couple seeking a romantic dinner, someone who wants to sip cocktails while watching the sunset, or a traveler looking for a memorable dining experience in Bali—you won’t be disappointed.
