Escaping to Paradise: An Amari Phuket Suite Experience
When you think of Phuket, the electric energy of Patong Beach likely comes to mind. It’s the island’s vibrant epicenter, a hub of hotels, shops, and a seemingly endless variety of dining and entertainment. For my recent trip, my goal was to find a sanctuary that was still connected to the buzz. I discovered that ideal blend at Amari Phuket. Nestled on its own private bay, this 5-star resort offers breathtaking ocean views and upscale facilities, yet remains just a stone’s throw from the lively streets of Patong. Let me walk you through my experience at this stunning property.
Amari Phuket: Lobby and Check-In
Tucked away at the quiet, southern end of Patong Bay, Amari Phuket boasts an enviable location that feels both secluded and central. Coming from a hotel right in downtown Patong, the taxi ride over was a brief 5 to 10 minutes. From the moment we arrived, the service was seamless. The staff immediately whisked our luggage away, leaving us free to step into the open-air lobby and handle check-in.
Since we arrived well before the official check-in time, we left our bags with the concierge and decided to pop back into town. The hotel staff happily arranged a tuk-tuk for us, and the fixed rate of 200 baht made for a hassle-free ride.

Checking in at Amari Phuket
Upon our return, the check-in process was completed smoothly, made all the more pleasant by a chilled welcome drink as we received our room keys. They also offer to notify you by phone when your room is ready, a thoughtful touch for anyone eager to get their vacation started.
Inside an Amari Phuket Suite
Our home for the next two nights was a One Bedroom Suite Ocean View with Coral Lounge access. The resort cascades down a lush hillside, which means that while pathways can be steep, the views are consistently spectacular. Getting around is a breeze with the on-demand buggy service. In the tropical heat and humidity, this service was less a luxury and more of a welcome necessity. You can summon a ride from your room, the lounge, or any restaurant, and it always arrives promptly.
The Building Exterior
Instead of a single, large hotel tower, the suites here are situated in intimate, two-story buildings that contain just four rooms each. This clever low-rise architecture ensures that every room, even those set further back on the property, enjoys a beautiful, unobstructed ocean view.
For me, no trip to Southeast Asia is complete without the sweet, tropical scent of Plumeria. It was a simple joy to find their fragrant blossoms scattered across the pathways and gardens of the resort.
Room Entrance
The entrance to the One Bedroom Suite was distinctive. A large outer gate opened to a private, sheltered entryway, with the main door to the suite set back inside. This added a nice sense of arrival and privacy, and the extra space was great for leaving sandy shoes or beach bags.
Living Room in the One Bedroom Ocean View Suite
The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a spacious living area. The room felt bright and airy, with a comfortable sofa and a multi-purpose desk, all oriented to take full advantage of the gorgeous ocean view through floor-to-ceiling windows.
Waiting on the desk was a lovely welcome spread of fresh fruit, desserts, and a selection of snacks. Be mindful that the packaged snacks are part of the pay-per-use minibar. The desk also served as a convenient workspace for catching up on emails with an inspiring view.
Both the living room and bedroom are blessed with large windows. The living room even features a corner window, which opens up the space and provides a wider, panoramic vista of the sea.
Kitchenette Area
The suite includes a compact but well-appointed kitchenette by the entrance. It’s stocked with cooking utensils, cutlery, and even dish soap, making it suitable for preparing light meals. While we didn’t cook during our short stay, it’s a fantastic convenience for families or those planning an extended visit.
Other complimentary items included bottled water and a selection of premium TWG teas. A large, integrated refrigerator held a variety of minibar drinks. With its well-defined living and kitchen spaces, this suite is an excellent fit not only for couples but also for families or friends traveling together.
The Bedroom
The separate bedroom serves as a serene retreat from the main living area. The decor is clean and minimalist, creating a calming environment perfect for a good night’s rest. Waking up to the ocean view from bed was a treat. It’s the little details that often stand out, and I was genuinely impressed by the quality of the slippers provided; they were far plusher than the standard hotel offering. There was also a chic rattan beach bag ready for use, a perfect accessory for a trip to the pool or shore.
The Bathroom
Accessible from the bedroom, the en-suite bathroom was spacious and modern. Additional water bottles were placed by the sink, a thoughtful gesture for brushing teeth. The bathroom was fully stocked with a complete set of quality amenities, ensuring we had everything we needed.
The View from the Room
From every window, the view was a stunning composition of nature. The interplay of the resort’s lush, jungle-like greenery against the deep blue of the Andaman Sea was a constant, captivating sight. Even with the occasional rain shower passing through during my visit, the scenery remained dramatic and beautiful. I can only imagine how vibrant the colors of the sea must be under a full day of sunshine.
The Coral Lounge at Amari Phuket
Certain room categories at the resort grant access to exclusive lounges. Our suite included access to the Coral Lounge, where we enjoyed breakfast each morning and drinks in the evening. It offers a more boutique and serene alternative to a larger, traditional club lounge, with personalized service and a peaceful ambiance.
The breakfast experience here was a highlight of our stay. While a small buffet provided a selection of salads, pastries, and fruits, the real star was the à la carte menu. You could order as many dishes as you liked, all prepared fresh to order. The quality was outstanding, and enjoying such a wonderful meal in a quiet, uncrowded setting was a far more relaxing experience than a busy main restaurant. I’ll be sharing more about the food in a future post!

Final Thoughts
My two nights in the One Bedroom Suite at Amari Phuket were exceptional. The apartment-style layout, with its distinct living and sleeping quarters, offered a genuine sense of home and comfort. The spectacular views, excellent resort facilities, and friendly service made the stay memorable. Above all, the location is its greatest asset, providing a peaceful hideaway that is still just a short walk or tuk-tuk ride from the excitement of Patong Beach. For travelers seeking a luxurious escape that offers both tranquility and convenience, Amari Phuket is an outstanding choice. Be sure to check back for my next post, where I will dive into the resort’s pools and other amenities.
