X10 Khaolak Resort Review: Our Perfect Off-Season Family Getaway in June

X10 Khaolak Resort: A Complete Review of Our Stay

I’m excited to share my experience from a recent three-night stay at the X10 Khaolak Resort, a place that quickly won me over. This resort hits all the right notes: it’s conveniently located just a short walk from the main town, offers great value, and features an impressive lineup of pools with direct access to the beach. Join me as I walk you through our Deluxe Pool Access room and explore the fantastic amenities that made our stay so memorable.

Getting to Know X10 Khaolak Resort

Resort Lobby & Check-In

The open-air lobby welcomes you as soon as you arrive. We visited in June, during the off-season, so we breezed through check-in without any wait. The staff greeted us with cool welcome drinks and managed the whole process with warm, efficient service.

It’s worth taking a moment at the front desk to check out the information available. You’ll find helpful notices, including the resort’s policy on bringing in certain fruits like durian and mangosteen. There’s also a QR code you can scan to download the X10 Khaolak app, putting resort info right at your fingertips.

The lobby area also includes a handy “Mini Market” for snacks, drinks, souvenirs, and pool essentials at reasonable prices. Next to it, you’ll find a ping-pong table and a comfortable lounge area, a nice spot to relax or meet up with friends.

Resort Scenery

The resort grounds are beautifully manicured, winding between five distinct pools and dotted with coconut palms that create a lush, tropical atmosphere. Even a simple walk through the property feels peaceful and restorative.

Resort Restaurants

The resort has two primary restaurants: The Main Restaurant and the Seaside Seafood Kitchen. We chose a half-board plan that included breakfast and dinner, so we spent most of our meal times at The Main Restaurant.

The Main Restaurant also hosts themed events. We were lucky enough to catch a traditional Thai dance performance one evening, which added a wonderful cultural touch to our dinner. For a 5-star resort, the dining was quite affordable. The food was consistently good, and the staff’s attentive service made every meal enjoyable. I’ll cover the dining experience in more detail in a future post.

The Pools at X10 Khaolak Resort

The resort is cleverly laid out, with the guest buildings framing a long central channel of pools. There are five pools in total, including one with a waterslide that was a massive hit with the kids. I’ll confess, I tried it a few times myself and it was a blast.

Two of the five pools are dedicated children’s pools, making the resort ideal for families. If you’re looking for a quieter experience, the pool nearest the beach is reserved for adults. All pools operate from 8 AM to 8 PM.

There’s no shortage of sunbeds around the pools and along the beachfront, so you can always find a place to unwind. I especially enjoyed lounging by the ocean, listening to the waves. It was nice to see everyone relaxing in their own way, whether it was sunbathing, reading a book, or even playing cards.

Swim-up Pool Bar and Beach Bar

To complete the vacation experience, a Swim-up Pool Bar and a Beach Bar are ready to serve drinks whenever you like. We made good use of them, enjoying everything from coffee and fresh coconuts to creative mocktails.

With so many coconut trees around, I got a chuckle out of the “Beware of Falling Coconuts” signs. We even saw the staff doing routine maintenance to safely clear the trees.

Our Deluxe Pool Access Room

We booked a Deluxe Pool Access room, and it was the best decision. Having direct access to the pool from our terrace was amazing, and being on the ground floor meant no fussing with stairs or elevators. At 36 sqm, the room is spacious enough for two adults and a child, or three adults if you use the sofa bed.

We were greeted with a welcome plate of fresh fruit in our room, thoughtfully wrapped to keep it fresh.

The room included a large refrigerator with a separate freezer compartment, which was perfect for keeping our drinks ice-cold. It was also supplied with everything we needed for our stay, including both indoor slippers and flip-flops for the pool.

For extra comfort, the resort offers a complimentary pillow menu with three different types to choose from, along with a nightly turndown service.

Room Bathroom

The bathroom features a walk-in shower. While I often pack a shower filter when traveling in Southeast Asia, the water quality here was perfectly fine, and the bathroom was clean and stocked with all the amenities we needed.

Pool Access Terrace

The private terrace was what made this room special. It was furnished with a small table, a sunbed, and an umbrella, creating our own little haven for swimming, snacking, and drying off. If you love to swim or are traveling with kids, I can’t recommend the pool access rooms enough.

Bang Niang Beach

The resort offers direct access to Bang Niang Beach. The waves were a bit rough for swimming while we were there, which can be common during the green season. On calmer days, though, it would be a perfect spot for swimming and water sports.

Because the resort faces west, it’s positioned perfectly for catching spectacular sunsets on clear evenings.

Final Thoughts

The X10 Khaolak Resort delivers a 5-star experience with great amenities and a prime location, all at an excellent value. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in Khao Lak. It’s particularly well-suited for families, thanks to its amazing pools, kids’ club, and waterslide. If you’re planning a family vacation, be sure to put this resort on your list. Stay tuned for my next post, where I’ll dive into more detail about the resort’s other facilities and food options.
