Introduction to Craft Root Sokcho Brewery

Hello! 🖐️🖐️ Today, I’m excited to introduce you to Craft Root Sokcho Brewery, a must-visit restaurant if you’re in Sokcho. This place not only brews its own craft beer but also offers an incredible dining experience with a great atmosphere. With spacious indoor seating and a large parking area, it’s an ideal spot for couples, families, and even larger groups. Let’s dive into the details of this hidden gem!

Arriving at Craft Root Sokcho Brewery

As you drive up, you’ll spot the Craft Root Sokcho Brewery logo, guiding you to the entrance. Inside, you’ll find ample parking space, making it convenient for visitors.

The brewery sits on a large property, featuring both indoor and outdoor seating. I visited in the winter, but I could easily imagine how amazing it would be to enjoy a cold beer and delicious food outside during the warmer months. 🍻☀️

The photo zone at the entrance is perfect for capturing memories of your trip! 📸

Inside the Brewery

The interior is spacious, with well-spaced tables that create a comfortable dining experience. The dim lighting and well-placed accents give off a cozy and stylish ambiance.

As you explore the space, you’ll notice professional brewing equipment on display, making it clear that this is the real deal for craft beer lovers.

If you’re familiar with Sokcho, you may have seen Sokcho Beer in places like E-Mart and local resorts. Well, this is where it’s made! The brewery has won several prestigious awards, including the Grand Prize at the Korea Liquor Awards and a Gold Medal at the European Beer Star, one of the top three beer competitions in the world. Only five breweries in Korea have received this honor—impressive, right? 🍺🏆

Dining Experience & Menu Highlights

The restaurant offers a paper menu as well as tablet menus at each table, allowing you to browse food and drink options with photos for easy ordering.

Some menu highlights include:
🍺 Sokcho IPA – 7.0% ABV
🍺 Daepo Stout Plus – 8.0% ABV
🥗 House Salad
🥩 Craft Root T-Bone Steak
🐟 Honey Cod Steak

I had a tough time choosing a beer because the variety was amazing, but each one had detailed descriptions, making it easier to find the perfect match for my taste.

Tasting the Beer & Food

The first to arrive was the beer. While the menu features can designs, the beer is served fresh on tap.

🍺 Sokcho IPA: A beautiful golden color with a fruity aroma and a refreshing taste—absolutely delicious!

🍺 Daepo Stout Plus: A nitrogen-infused stout with an incredibly smooth finish and subtle coffee notes, reminiscent of Guinness.

Next up was the House Salad, which was fresh and balanced—perfect as an appetizer.

Then came the Honey Cod Steak, a Spanish-inspired dish featuring:
🐟 Tender cod steak
🌿 Pesto & aioli sauce
🍯 Honey drizzle for a sweet, tangy kick

The presentation was stunning, similar to what you’d find in fine dining restaurants. The fish was exceptionally soft, and the honey-infused sauce added a unique depth of flavor. Highly recommended!

Finally, the T-bone Steak arrived, served with:
🔥 Charcoal-grilled seasonal vegetables
🧂 Salt, whole grain mustard, and steak sauce

Craft Root is the only place in Sokcho serving T-bone steak, using USDA Prime-grade beef dry-aged for over four weeks. You can even see the dry-aging chamber inside the restaurant, ensuring the highest quality meat.

The steak was incredibly juicy, and I found that a simple sprinkle of salt brought out the best flavor. Pairing it with grilled vegetables made it even better! 🥩✨
