Hello.🖐️🖐️ In my previous post, I introduced the deluxe bungalow room at Novotel Resort, where I stayed for 2 nights on my trip to Phu Quoc, and today I’ll tell you more about the buffet breakfast. The Novotel Resort in Phu Quoc, Vietnam was booked for about 80,000 won per night including breakfast, so it was quite cost-effective, and I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a resort in Phu Quoc with a good location and good value for money : )

About Phu Quoc Novotel Resort

I visited Phu Quoc in June, and it was hot and humid, even compared to the middle of summer in Korea. It was the kind of weather that makes you want to go back inside as soon as you step out of your room in the morning, but I eagerly made my way to the restaurant for breakfast.

Breakfast is available from 6:30am to 10:30am at the restaurant Food Exchange. The busiest time is from 8am to 9:30am, so it’s best to avoid this time. Apparently, you can also have a floating breakfast for VND500,000 if you request it separately.

You can also find out about discounts for Accor’s paid hotel membership called Accor Plus. You can get discounts such as 25% for one person, 50% for two people, 33% for three people, etc. 👍 I also have Accor Plus, so I can save money by ordering a meal or drink for two people at a restaurant and getting 50% off.

Breakfast at Novotel Phu Quoc Resort

The first thing that caught my eye was the fruit. I really like fruits, and I was happy that the fruits were sweet and there were so many types of fruits👍👍 I was a little disappointed that there were no fresh mangoes, but you can buy mangoes at Sonasi Night Market right in front of the hotel for 2,000 won for 1kg.

Since Vietnam was a French colony, most breakfast places have a bakery section 👍 I personally liked the mini-baguette, which is the bread used to make banh mi, so I took it home several times.

There are also a variety of salads, yogurts, and cereals that are indispensable for breakfast, so you can mix and match to your liking.

There’s a live section where they make a variety of egg dishes on the fly. I love omelettes, so I always order them, and as long as the eggs are cooked well, it’s a great breakfast : )

Other than that, they have a variety of hot foods like bacon, sausage, rice noodles, dim sum, and more. There are a lot of food options, but I personally didn’t find many of them appealing. Out of the 4 resort breakfasts I visited in Phu Quoc, this one was the least appealing. It was also the cheapest to book, but I would say that the menu is a bit disappointing.

Breakfast

I always love fruits, so I brought a lot of fruits. When I came to Southeast Asia, there were many tropical fruits that are hard to find in Korea👍👍 I was disappointed that there was no mango, but there were many delicious fruits with good sugar, so I was excited to taste them.

Personally, I loved the mini banh mi baguettes because they were crispy and savory👍👍 I don’t know how many I took and ate lol.

Since it’s Vietnam, each hotel has a corner where they make instant rice noodle soup, and the toppings change every day, and although the broth isn’t super rich, it’s pretty good for a quick and hot breakfast👍.

Today, I want to share my review of Kura Sushi Hakata Nakasu, a conveyor belt sushi restaurant I visited during my trip to Fukuoka. After a busy day of sightseeing, it was already quite late when I went out for dinner. Originally, I had planned to try Motomura Gyukatsu, but even at that late hour, the line was still incredibly long 😂. In the end, I gave up on Motomura and headed to Kura Sushi, my go-to spot for affordable conveyor belt sushi.

About Kura Sushi Hakata Nakasu, Fukuoka

There are several Kura Sushi branches in Fukuoka, but the one I visited was Kura Sushi Hakata Nakasu. It is conveniently located in the city center, making it easy to access. The restaurant is just a short distance from Nakasu-Kawabata Station, and it is also near the famous Ichiran Ramen main store, which is a popular stop for many travelers 👍.

The building where Kura Sushi is located also houses Don Quijote on the first and second floors, making it a great spot for shopping before or after your meal 👍. If there is a wait, you can take a number and browse Don Quijote while passing the time.

One of the biggest advantages of major conveyor belt sushi chains is their late-night operation, and Kura Sushi Hakata Nakasu is no exception. The restaurant is open until midnight, so you can visit without worrying about the time. It’s also perfect for a light late-night snack!

Since I had previously experienced long wait times, I decided to make an online reservation in advance. Upon arrival, I easily took a numbered ticket from the self-service kiosk at the entrance. The system allows you to select your seat type (counter or box seat) and the number of guests. It’s an intuitive and user-friendly system, so even first-time visitors can navigate it with ease.

💡 Tip: If there is a wait, selecting counter seating can help you get a seat faster 😊.

Dining at Kura Sushi

Most people prefer table seating for comfort, but solo diners can enjoy their meal comfortably at the counter seats. While a table can accommodate up to 6 people, it is most comfortable with a maximum of 4 guests.

Before the pandemic, sushi was priced at 100 yen per plate, but the price has since increased. Now, the cheapest plate costs around 125 yen, although this may vary slightly depending on the branch.

Once you place your order using the touch panel, your sushi is delivered to your seat via a dedicated express rail above the main conveyor belt. When the restaurant is busy, sushi might take some time to arrive, so I recommend placing your orders in advance to maintain a smooth dining experience.

Unlike many other conveyor belt sushi chains, Kura Sushi has long used a unique lidded sushi case. Thanks to this system, they have continued serving sushi on the rotating conveyor even after the pandemic. However, most customers now prefer ordering from the touch panel rather than picking up sushi from the belt.

Fukuoka Kura Sushi Dining Experience

Whenever I visit a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, I always start with chawanmushi (Japanese steamed egg custard) and miso soup. The chawanmushi varies by season, featuring crab, clams, shrimp, and other delicious toppings. It’s warm, silky, and absolutely a must-try! 👍

Next, I had tamago (egg) sushi, and I also tried a seasonal corn-topped egg sushi.

After that, I ordered a variety of sushi, including:
🍣 Onion salmon
🧀 Cheese shrimp
🐟 Tuna
🌽 Corn salad gunkan

Since crab legs were available as a limited-time menu item, I gave them a try. They were sweet, moist, and delicious 😊. While there are plenty of budget-friendly options, Kura Sushi is also a great place to enjoy seasonal and limited-edition sushi at a reasonable price. 👍

If you’re not a fan of sushi, don’t worry—Kura Sushi offers over 100 menu items, including:
🍜 Ramen
🍤 Tempura
🍺 Drinks

This makes it a great place to dine even with friends who don’t like sushi. Since you can order exactly as much as you want, it’s also perfect for a quick meal, a late-night snack, or even a beer!

One of the reasons I love Kura Sushi is their delicious dessert fruit. The apple mango is incredibly sweet and perfectly prepared for easy eating. During melon season, I always end up having several plates of melon because it’s so tasty! 👍

Another fun aspect of Kura Sushi is their plate return game. After finishing a dish, you insert the empty plate into the return slot, and for every five plates, a mini-game plays on the touch panel. If you win, you receive a prize, usually featuring collaborating anime character merchandise.

Payment

When you are finished eating, simply scan the seat number ticket you received upon arrival at the self-checkout machine to pay.

💰 How much does it cost?
For two adults, I usually spend around 4,000 to 5,000 yen for a satisfying meal. Of course, this depends on what and how much you eat, so it’s a good idea to budget accordingly 😊.

Overall Review

Kura Sushi is a large conveyor belt sushi chain where you can enjoy the authentic Japanese sushi dining experience without any pressure. 👍 Personally, I am always quite satisfied with my visits, and whenever I travel to Japan, I make sure to stop by at least once or twice.

Don’t expect high-end sushi, but if you’re looking for a budget-friendly option with fresh and seasonal sushi, this is a great place to visit. Since Kura Sushi is always busy with both locals and tourists, I highly recommend making a reservation before visiting. : )

Hello.🖐️🖐️ Today I’d like to introduce you to the Nanjo City Ocean View Rest Area, located in front of Chinen Misaki Park, which was the first place I visited in my rental car on my trip to Okinawa. It has about 50 free parking spaces, a shop where you can buy various souvenirs from Nanjo City, and an observation deck with a great view of the ocean. It’s a must-stop on your way to visit Chinen Misaki Park, Cape Chinen, and Sehwa Utaki, a World Heritage Site.

About Nanjo Roadside Station

This is the first place we visited after renting a car on our trip to Okinawa. It takes about 50 minutes by car from Okinawa Airport, and there are several tourist spots around the rest area, such as Chinen Misaki Park, Cape Chinen, and Sehwa Utaki. There is parking for about 50 cars at the service area, and if it is full, you can use the Chinen Misaki Park parking lot.

Shisha are like Okinawa’s guardian deity and symbol, so you’ll see them everywhere you go. Here, the shisha with angel wings seem to be the most popular.

When I visited, it was September, and it was quite hot, with meltingly hot weather. Drinks are a must to cool off and stay hydrated. By the way, they also sell tickets for Sehwa Utaki (斎場御嶽) here. I thought about going there, but I was told it was a long walk, so I gave up because it was too hot.

The museum also serves as a tourist information center for Nanjo City, which is in the southern part of Okinawa, so you can see exhibits and tourist information, but I didn’t know much Japanese, so I didn’t get to see much.

There is also a service where you can rent Ryukyu costumes, so if you want to take a souvenir photo, it would be a good idea to rent a costume and take a photo. It used to cost 500 yen, but when I visited, the rental price was not listed, so you may need to inquire.

There’s also a space in the back where you can do things like current affairs painting. I was taking a break from the hot weather, so the staff suggested it to me first and kindly guided me through it.

Ocean view from Nanjo Rest Area

If you go outside, you’ll see a stunning ocean view of Okinawa. The gradation of emerald and dark blue colors was really stunning👍👍 You can also see it from Chinen Misaki Park or Cape Chinen later on, but it’s a different feeling to see it from here. I recommend visiting on a nice day if possible.

There is a small bridge off to the side that serves as an observation deck and photo spot. It’s called Happiness Bridge (幸せの架け橋), and you can take a picture with the stunning ocean view in the background : )

Chinen Misaki Nanjo Roadside Station Shop

The roadside station is home to Fukusuke no Tamagoyaki (福助の玉子焼き), a chain store that sells Okinawa’s famous musubi (rice balls) and tamagoyaki (egg rolls). They have a signature dish called 厚焼きポーク玉子 (thickly grilled pork egg roll), which is a simple and delicious snack that utilizes the local flavors of Okinawa.

As a country of characters, there is a mascot character at the Nanjo City Local Specialties Center, and he’s pretty cute with a mustache and a heart pattern on his chest.

Inside the roadside station shop, there were many local specialties from all over Okinawa. I tried the bananas from Okinawa for breakfast at the hotel and they were so sweet and delicious👍 The cute yellow pineapple dolls are sold at full price everywhere in Okinawa, so you can buy one as a souvenir.

The shop also sold various fresh fruit juices and ice creams, and I bought a cool pineapple juice. They have a cute mascot character on it too haha

When I was done shopping, I drove to Chinen Misaki Park, which was right in front of me. Misaki Park has a great ocean view, but I’ll tell you more about it in my next post.

Chinen Misaki in a nutshell

Renting a car in Okinawa made it easy to visit places that are hard to reach by public transportation👍 The Nanjo City Tourist Information Center and Rest Area, which was my first stop on the road, has a great ocean view and is a great place to learn about Okinawa and its local specialties, as well as a place to take a break from the scorching heat. Stay tuned for the next installment of our Chinen Misaki Park review💛

Hello.🖐️🖐️ I’m about to travel to Bali soon. I decided to stay in the Kuta area and did a lot of research because I didn’t want to stay far away from the airport when I landed in Bali. Being a resort paradise, Bali has a huge variety of hotels and resorts to choose from, but my first choice is Alaya Dedaun Kuta, a small luxury hotel with only 12 pool villas, and even the most basic one-bedroom pool villa is really big at around 250 square meters, which makes it a great honeymoon hotel because it’s a great value for money. Let me tell you more about it.

About Alaya Dedaun Kuta

Alaya Dedaun Kuta is a branded property of Alaya Hotels & Resorts, a chain of luxury boutique hotels in Bali, Indonesia that includes Alaya Dedaun Kuta, which we’re featuring today, Alaya Resort Ubud, Alaya Private Estate, and ARNA Suites and Ocean Lounge.

First, let’s talk about the location: it’s about a 20-minute drive from Bali’s airport. Bali is a very busy place, so we often stay in Kuta on the day of arrival or the day before departure. It’s also close to the airport, so if you’re looking for a pool villa hotel near the airport, this is a great option👍 Especially if you’re honeymooning in Bali after your wedding, you’ll be less tired if you stay in an area close to the airport.

Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted with a welcome drink at reception. As it is a small luxury hotel with only 12 pool villas, you can check in and out in relative privacy as there are no crowds 👍 Also, compared to larger resorts, the staff is more attentive to guests. I contacted the staff in advance and they were really nice : )

Kuta is a bustling, busy city center, but once inside the resort, it’s lushly landscaped and relaxing in a very Balinese way👍 There’s no communal pool as you’d expect at a typical resort, but that’s not a problem as all of the rooms are pool villas and each villa has a large outdoor area with tropical gardens and a private pool.

You can find more information and make reservations on Alaya’s official website, and there are some packages that include massage services for stays of 4 nights or more, so it’s worth checking out before booking.

Alaya Dedaun Kuta Rooms

Alaya Dedaun Kuta has a total of 12 luxury pool villas in 4 different types. There are one-bedroom pool villas that are perfect for couples or small families, and two- and three-bedroom villas that are perfect for families or groups, but due to the limited number of rooms, it can be difficult to book late.

Room type and size

  • ONE BEDROOM POOL VILLA: 250㎡
  • ONE BEDROOM DELUXE POOL VILLA: 300㎡
  • TWO BEDROOM DELUXE POOL VILLA: 450㎡
  • THREE BEDROOM DELUXE POOL VILLA: 600㎡

Common room amenities and services

  • Alaya signature amenities ‘PAGI’
  • air-conditioning and IDD telephone
  • Cable TV with Balinese and international channels
  • Surround sound home entertainment system
  • Espresso coffee machine and tea (TEA)
  • Minibar, safe, slippers and kimono provided
  • Turn-down service and laundry/dry cleaning service
  • Dedicated butler service
  • Iron and crib upon request

One Bedroom Pool Villa 🌺

The One-Bedroom Pool Villa is perfect for couples or small groups of travelers looking for a special getaway. It’s a luxurious space designed with personal relaxation and tropical indulgence at the forefront. It’s generously sized at 250 square meters and features a warm, cozy Balinese charm with artisanal and stylish interiors👍 The spacious bedroom has a luxurious canopy bed and a private bathroom with separate shower and bathtub for maximum comfort.

The outdoor space is also really nice, with tropical gardens that blend in with nature, and a full-size private pool for relaxing and taking a dip. Next to the pool, there’s an outdoor leisure area, perfect for soaking up the sun or reading a book. The open-style kitchen is perfect for preparing simple meals, private BBQs, and romantic dinners to make your stay even more comfortable👍.

It’s important to note that you can book these pool villas for around 200,000 KRW per night in low season, so the price is quite good. At 250 square meters, they’re much larger than a top-tier suite in a typical hotel, and since they come with a variety of services, including personal butler service and complimentary afternoon tea, you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck👍👍.

One Bedroom Deluxe Pool Villa 🌺

The One-Bedroom Deluxe Pool Villa is much larger than the One-Bedroom, at 300 square meters, and is designed with a more luxurious modern interior and more private space. If romance and privacy are a priority for you, especially for couples or honeymooners, the One-Bedroom Deluxe Pool Villa offers a romantic ambiance and additional spaces like an outdoor bathtub.

Two Bedroom Deluxe Pool Villa 🌺

The 2-Bedroom Deluxe Pool Villa offers a staggering size of 450 square meters for starters. The good thing is that each bedroom is designed as an independent space, ensuring privacy, so when two teams come together, the shared living room with its warm and stylish interior is great for family and friends to gather and chat or relax, while the bedrooms each have their own space, so you can hang out together but still have your own space to relax👍.

Three Bedroom Deluxe Pool Villa 🌺

The 3-bedroom Deluxe Pool Villa offers 600 square meters of space, which is a lot of space compared to the 2-bedroom. It is especially recommended for family travelers because it is a safe and private space where you can spend relaxing time with your children, and it is also perfect for gatherings with friends because you can enjoy the independence of each bedroom while still being able to enjoy each other in the living room. It is also a good room for long-term guests as it is fully equipped with kitchen and living amenities, making your stay convenient👍.

DaLa Spa

Alaya Dedaun Kuta and Alaya Resort Ubud are each home to DaLa Spa. DaLa Spa means “Leaf” in ancient Sanskrit, and is said to symbolize the cycle of nature and human vitality. It is Asia’s premier boutique hotel spa, offering a premium wellness experience with a modern twist on traditional Indonesian healing and beauty rituals. Sounds pretty luxurious and good, right? We definitely recommend booking the spa together, especially if it’s your honeymoon👍👍👍.

Hello.🖐️🖐️ Today, I’m sharing with you my favorite restaurant at the Novotel Resort in Phu Quoc, LOUNGE BAR. It offers a wide variety of food and drinks, including a welcome drink as part of your Accor Gold membership, and we loved the more casual and relaxed atmosphere than the other restaurants. Given the low cost of living in Vietnam, we also got a 50% discount for 2 people if you’re an AccorPlus member, so it was a great value for money 👍 If you’re visiting Phu Quoc Novotel Resort, take note : )

Phu Quoc Novotel Resort Lounge Bar Restaurant

The first hotel I stayed at in Phu Quoc was the Phu Quoc Novotel Resort. I went during the rainy season in June, so I had heard that Phu Quoc was hot, but it was really hot. I’m sure it would be much less so in the dry season, but the humidity was so high that I was constantly looking for something to drink.

The lounge bar is located in the same area as the lobby where the check-in desk is located, and because the lobby is so open, the lounge bar is also hot, but if you stay in the shade, it’s okay 😊 I got used to it again quickly.

The Lounge Bar has a more casual and relaxed atmosphere compared to a traditional restaurant. The menu includes cocktails, alcoholic beverages, tropical fruit drinks, snacks, and a variety of dishes, and is open from 6:30am to midnight (last order at 11:30pm). They stay open pretty late, which is a plus👍.

The lounge bar is located next to the resort’s pool, so you can feel free to stop by for a drink or a bite to eat after playing in the pool. The lush views and relaxing atmosphere of the resort during the day and at night are soothing : )

Welcome drink at Phu Quoc Novotel Resort

I’m an Accor Gold member, so I was able to get a welcome drink ticket for two when I checked in. The welcome drink is available at the lounge bar here, and there’s a huge selection of soft drinks, juices, coffee, TEA, cocktails, mocktails, beer, and wine. We ordered a mojito and coffee, and they gave us some snacks to go with our drinks. The coffee tasted really strong as it is typical of Southeast Asian coffee, and the mojito was refreshing, so it was delicious and it was fun to relax and have a good time.

Novotel Restaurant Lounge Bar Food & Drink

I had to clean my room and do some quick work, so I stopped by the lounge bar again. I ordered a cold watermelon juice and a mocktail (non-alcoholic cocktail), and the visuals are so pretty, right? 👍👍 I think I tried all kinds of mocktails during my stay at Novotel. It was raining in Skolseong that day, but it was so cool to see the scenery pouring down : )

The weather cleared up like it always does. I was feeling a little peckish, so I ordered a Hawaiian pizza, which was mediocre.

The sun was already setting and we went to Sonasi Night Market in front of the hotel for dinner. I bought a mango and a mangosteen, but I didn’t really want to eat anything else, so I stopped by the hotel lounge again for a quick beer.

It was hot, so I ordered a draft beer to cool off and a nice mocktail (non-alcoholic cocktail). The prices were reasonable, so it was nice to be able to drink evenly without feeling guilty.

We ordered french fries, seafood fried rice, and tomato spaghetti to go with our alcoholic drinks. The french fries didn’t have any special flavor, but the spaghetti tasted good because it didn’t smell like spices and was plain. I think everyone will like it regardless of whether they like it or not👍 The seafood fried rice has a lot of seafood in it and the texture is chewy, so you should definitely try this menu : )

Overall review

Today we introduced you to the Lounge Bar restaurant at the Novotel Resort in Phu Quoc. It’s a must-visit if you’re staying at a Novotel resort, and you can use your welcome drink coupon here. It’s a place where you can enjoy a variety of food, coffee, and alcoholic beverages, and the prices are reasonable, so it’s easy to visit, and if you have AccorPlus, you can get 50% off for 2 people, so I was quite satisfied. The atmosphere is nice, and the mocktails (non-alcoholic cocktails) are especially beautiful and delicious, so I recommend trying each type 😊.
