Review: JW Marriott Hong Kong Hotel Harbor View Room

Hello. Today I’m going to share my review of my stay at the JW Marriott Hong Kong Hotel Harbor View Room, which I stayed at for one night during my layover in Hong Kong while traveling to Bali with Cathay Pacific. Speaking of JW Marriott, it can be said that it is quite a luxury brand even in Marriott hotels, and it is a very good location and famous among Hong Kong’s 5-star hotels, so I was so happy to stay in a relatively short stay. Let me introduce it in detail.

About JW Marriott Hong Kong Hotel

The JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong opened on February 27, 1989, as the first JW Marriott branded property in the Asia Pacific region. With a total of 608 rooms and suites, the hotel is quite large from the inside, and you can definitely feel the size of the building from the outside.

The hotel has a lot going for it, but the best part is the transportation and location. First of all, it is located in Pacific Place, the center of Hong Kong Island, so you can go shopping without having to go outside, and it is directly connected to the Admiralty MTR station, which has 4 lines, so you can go from the airport to the hotel without having to go outside, so even if the weather is bad, it is not a problem at all👍.

It was a Hong Kong layover so I didn’t have a lot of time, but since the hotel is directly connected to the MTR (Hong Kong subway), it was very convenient and quick to get there. When I arrived, it was night time, so I took some photos of the lounge, which was deserted, but the atmosphere was really nice because it was a very large and high space with panoramic windows👍.

It’s a popular hotel, so there were quite a few guests checking in even though I arrived late at night. Hong Kong hotels in general speak good English, so communication is rarely a problem. After checking in, the staff who checked me in escorted me to the elevator, which was a nice touch👍.

There are many different facilities in the hotel and many floors, so it can be confusing to know where to go, but it’s very convenient to see what facilities are listed right next to the elevator button. The LG floor is the floor connected to the MRT and has a fitness center. The 5th floor has the JW Cafe and Executive Lounge where you can have breakfast buffet, and the 7th floor has an outdoor swimming pool. And the security was very good as you can only go to your room floor by swiping your room key.

JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong Harbor View Room

The building is shaped like an accordion, so some of the rooms have unique entrances like this. We were assigned a corner room with a harbor view, so we entered the room through a door on the inside.

The room was very well prepared, with all the curtains closed and the bedding set up so that we could go straight to sleep👍 The bed and bedding were particularly good, with twin beds, but the bed was quite large and there were plenty of pillows so that we could sleep comfortably even if we tossed and turned.

The hotel also prepared various welcome gifts for us, and it was very nice to have a glass of champagne and eat delicious chocolates and cookies before going to bed. The cookies were penguin cookies from Hong Kong’s famous bakery, “Gihwa Byung Street”, and they were crispy, melting and delicious, so I would definitely recommend you to buy them👍.

This is the view of the room in the early morning. I heard that Hong Kong hotels are usually small in size, but the room size was spacious, so I was able to stay comfortably. And the best part was the view. When I arrived, I didn’t know much because I saw it at night, but in the morning, I could see the harbor very well with a sense of openness. And the curtains were all electronic, so it was very convenient to open and close with one button.

The room was well equipped with TWG tea and espresso machines, 6 capsules, and 6 cans of bottled water, which was nice. I’ve never had bottled water before, so it was a bit foreign to me at first, but it was cooler than plastic bottles.

There are many people who come for business trips or work while traveling, but the desk was conveniently equipped with outlets and terminals. Also, it was a good idea to prepare a multi-adapter! If you forgot an adapter, you won’t have any problems.

The closet had plenty of hangers, and the shower robe was special. Compared to other hotels, it was very soft, lightweight, and warm, so I could feel that it was a good hotel. Other amenities were carefully prepared for your stay.

The bathroom is a bit dated but well maintained, clean and tidy, with most of the amenities I needed, from toothbrush to comb, shower cap, soap, and a large bottle of body lotion. The towels were also big and fluffy, so it felt great to shower and feel fresh 😊

The bathroom was spacious and had a separate shower and bathtub, which was nice. Bath amenities use aromatherapy products from the UK.

After a good night’s sleep at Beam, I woke up early in the morning and had breakfast at JW Cafe on the 5th floor, and the food quality here is really good👍 I read someone else’s review that the dim sum was better than Michelin restaurants, but it was really delicious 🙂 I’ll share more about it in my next post.

I was so happy with the room, the view, the service, and the breakfast that I regretted that I only stayed for a short time because of the layover👍 If you are looking for a 5-star hotel in Hong Kong, I highly recommend JW Marriott : )
